Take your notetaking is the next level with searchable tags.
Tagging simply means adding a label next to important notes so you can find them quickly later on, especially when studying for tests and exams.
For example, you might use the following tags in your notes:
- Important
- To do
- Question
- Definition
- Reference
- In exam
To add a tag in OneNote on your:
- iPad:
- Tap the cursor next to an important note on your Onenote page.
- Tap the Tag icon and choose the appropriate tag eg Important.
- When you want to find all of your notes that you have tagged with “important”, simply:
- Tap the search button (top left)
- Type the tag name you are looking for eg important.
- All of the pages you have tagged will appear under the search box.
- Tap any page to jump to that page.
- Surface
- Tap the cursor next to an important note on your Onenote page.
- Tap the Tag icon and choose the appropriate tag eg Important.
- When you want to find all of your notes that you have tagged with “important”, simply:

This very simple idea is a very powerful way to transform your note taking.
