How do I record my screen using an iPad, Surface or MacBook?

SCREEN RECORD ON iPAD

1. You will first need to set up your iPad to enable screen recordings:

  • Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then tap the GREEN PLUS next to Screen Recording

 

2. To Screen record on your iPad:

  • Swipe down from the top right hand corner edge of your screen to view the control center

  • Press and hold the record button for 2 seconds. Tap on the Microphone so it is turned on.

  • Tap the record button to start recording, then wait for the three-second countdown before you starting recording your content

  • To stop the recording, open the control center (swipe down from top right corner of screen) and tap stop, or, tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap stop 

  • Go to the Photos app and select your screen recording.

  • Trim the final video to remove unwanted 'setting up' footage

 

SCREEN RECORD ON SURFACE

1. You will first need to set up your Surface to enable screen recordings:

  • Press Windows key and type GAME. Tap Xbox Game Bar

  • Select Broadcast and Capture 

  • Click record 

  • Text box saying "enable gaming features for this app to record gameplay" will appear. Click in the box to enable

  • Text box saying "your privacy settings are blocking your microphone" will appear. Click "show me how to fix it". 

  • Scroll down until you see an option that reads "Xbox Game Bar". Toggle the switch to on. 

 

2. Screen record on your Surface

  • Hold down the Windows Key and click the letter G on your keyboard to open Xbox Game Bar (same as first step above)

  • Once Xbox Game Bar is open, click broadcast and capture in the top menu (same as second step above)

  • Turn Mic On to capture sound whilst recording. Click record (left menu) and wait to begin. 

  • Click stop when finished

  • Screen recording will auto save to "Videos Folder"

  • Trim the final video to remove unwanted 'setting up' footage

 

SCREEN RECORD ON MACBOOK

  • Open QuickTime Player from your Applications folder, then choose File > New Screen Recording from the menu bar. The Screen Recording window opens.

  • Before starting your recording, you can click the arrow next to RECORD BUTTON to change the recording settings. ​**To record your voice or other audio with the screen recording, choose a microphone. To monitor that audio during recording, adjust the volume slider (if you get audio feedback, lower the volume or use headphones with a microphone). To show a black circle around your pointer when you click, choose Show Mouse Clicks in Recording**

  • To start recording, click RECORD and then take one of these actions:

    • Click anywhere on the screen to begin recording the entire screen.

    • Or drag to select an area to record, then click Start Recording within that area.

  • To stop recording, click the Quick Time Player, or press Command-Control-Esc (Escape).

  • After you stop recording, QuickTime Player automatically opens the recording. You can now play, edit or share your recording.
